In its report, "Climate Change Indicators in the United States," released April 27, the U.S. EPA presents 24 indicators that describe trends related to the causes and effects of climate change. The report focuses on the United States, but global trends are presented in some cases to provide context or a basis for comparison.

The list of indicators includes wildlife migrations, drought, bird wintering ranges, ocean acidity, plant hardiness zones, heat-related deaths, storms, changing sea levels, glaciers.

The agency said it will use the indicators to collect data and generate analyses to monitor the effects/impacts of climate change in the U.S., assist decision–makers on the best use of policymaking and program resources to respond to climate change and to assist EPA and its constituents in evaluating the success of their climate change efforts.
